attempting to be productive
as i have been attempting to assemble all of my projects i have kept an eye out for productivity apps. of course they can’t be any app. they have to be able to be integrated into a single browser window and be able to be synced from the desktop. while i know that this is a lot to ask, i do have something that works for me, which is all that really matters anyway.
there are three things that i have to have, regardless if i actually use them. a calendar, a to do list, and a way to take notes. i have used a few web based apps that accomplish part of this. nutshell is one that i used for a bit. it’s nice because it has both notes and a to do list, but it has no calendar. 37signals has the tada list, but that is just a to do list. both of these are really nice, and there are a ton of really nice apps out there that do what they do very well. but, what i want is integration.
this is my solution:
remember the milk - to do list
google notes - note taking
google calendar - calendar
what’s cool is that all of these can be integrated into a single browser window. you can also have rtm and google notes up on your email. so, you can have gmail, google chat, rtm, and google notes up on one window. the down side of this is that you really can’t sync from your desktop. you can sync ical with google calendar, but you can’t sync google calendar with ical. which sucks. but, there is a 3rd party app that will let you accomplish the task.
there is also customizable homepages like igoogle and netvibes that will alow you to much of this, but i get too distracted and overwelmed by the possiblies of widgets and all that.
